At OJgoldenretriever – Fashionist Dog Whisperer, we take a unique approach to dog coaching that prioritizes respect and understanding. Our coaching is bilingual, offered in German, English, and French, and we always prioritize the original pack order and behaviour.
We have found that dogs communicate differently than humans and have different needs and expectations, which is why we tailor our coaching to meet those needs. Dogs are fascinating creatures that we often relate to on a personal level due to our familiarity with them. It’s interesting to note that dogs communicate with humans in a way that is similar to how they communicate with other dogs, which can sometimes lead to misunderstandings. Unfortunately, miscommunication between dogs and their owners is a common cause of unwanted behaviours in dogs today.
We’re here to help you accurately observe your dog and learn their non-verbal communication. You’ll gain a better understanding of your dog’s thought process and how to meet their needs and expectations. Our coaching will also teach you and your dog how to establish your position as the pack leader.
Demonstrating the qualities of a pack leader is really important. A pack leader should be kind and gentle, yet firm in setting boundaries.
This concept is similar to working in a company, where a calm and confident boss who is genuinely nice but not overbearing can instill confidence in their employees during a crisis. The same applies to dogs. If they have a leader who is decisive and calm in the face of adversity, they are more likely to see their owner as a strong leader. This can help prevent dogs from assuming the leadership role and becoming ‘top dog’, which can lead to problems.
