Every dog is unique, just like their owner(s).
Therefore, it’s important to determine the appropriate position in the pack for your relationship with your dog.
Whether you’re the type of owner who places great emphasis on your dog’s performance and expects perfection at all times, or you’re more laid-back and treat your dog as a family member, consistency in training and expectations is key. Dogs are such clever creatures and they can learn what is expected of them in no time. In pack behaviour, the pack leader is the one who calls the pack to hunt together, warns of danger, and trains the puppies. This requires a lot of self-confidence to master these tasks so that the pack can survive. As a dog owner, it’s important to assume the role of pack leader, otherwise your dog will automatically take on that role.
It’s important to remember that your dog is not intentionally disobedient or difficult. Your dog is naturally inclined to behave this way, so it’s important to be patient and understand that it will take time for him to learn new behaviours. Giving consistent and clear commands will help your dog understand you better and follow you. With the right attitude, you can build a strong lifelong bond with your furry friend.
Self-confidence, confidence, and fearlessness can be overwhelming daily concerns. However, as I mentioned earlier, your furry friend needs a confident pack leader to feel secure.
If you feel that you lack confidence in your interactions with your furry friend, consider a life coaching session to accompany your dog coaching. Achieve self-determination, confidence, and awareness by setting realistic goals. After a personal consultation, we will accompany and support you on your way to becoming a self-confident dog owner.
As the saying goes, ‘the behaviour of the dog reflects the self-confidence of its owner.’
